A fragile storm flayed bloom Petals tightly furled Against the sudden cold blast Of premature winter Waiting for But not anticipating of The reawakening tentative flirtation with another spring That may or may not be so bold And endowed with enough strength of mind As to seek her out again
But beware she must The choking clutch Of rapidly spreading thistles As she holds herself tight Strains with all her might To keep her deepest core warm Withstand the storm Waiting for her prince to draw nigh With nourishing heat from on high Before those below grow more ferocious and strong Able to drag her down to where they think she belongs.
