Suicide is painless,
they make is sound so easy,
but razor blades and sleeping pills
just made me sick and queasy.
A length of rope just burnt my neck,
exhaust fumes made me cough,
I scaled a mighty building,
but, just couldn’t jump off.
I’ve never owned a handgun,
I couldn’t cut my throat
I thought I’d drown myself at sea,
but I missed the bloody boat.
So suicide is painless? that might be very true,
but it isn’t very easy,
that’s why I’m here with you.
I try my best to be upbeat,
to keep my glass half full,
but the dark clouds of depression,
paint all my weather dull.
My poems help me stay alive,
they fill my empty spots,
they help me solve life’s puzzles,
help me join up all the dots.
So I take the medication,
for fragile mental health.
And thoughts of painless suicide,
are stored up on the shelf.

This is a troubling poem and I am deeply touched by your every word, my son! But have faith in Jesus and let him come into you and your passage through life will be illuminated by his vigor!

Welcome to the New Poetry Shared site! We only have 10 or 11 members so far, but it seems active! Please invite others to join! PS I thought your poem was rather good and nicely tongue-in-cheek.

It's always good to see a suicide poem that makes one smile. 'Topping' stuff!
